Installation & configuration

Trix products are relatively simple to install. However, a more complicated situation arises when requirements for confidentiality, security, and the relevant IT policy must be met. Similarly, greater demands are posed on modifications carried out during configuration of the Trix product, or even more complicated when pure customization of functionality is involved.

Another important step is data migration of existing data volumes to the Trix product. Naturally it is extremely important to be able to move existing data without losing either content or structure. Preferably, it should also be possible to improve the structure when establishing it in the new system.

We offer our system support, which contains various steps that, when taken together, cover the needs we can identify. Below are the different steps.

Installation

Our standard installation service includes installation on your application server and database on a Microsoft SQL Server. The license manager is installed on the application server, and the agreed license key is registered. If web clients are to be used, a web server must be installed on the application server, and if external users are to be able to log in, DMZ servers are also required outside the firewalls and port openings must be made in them -all according to the customer’s standards.

For updates of previous versions, the customer’s database is checked to ensure that all data are preserved while the database is being updated. This is carried out using a copy prior to the actual installation.

Work associated with installation and configuration varies according to needs and requests. The exact server environment depends on the circumstances for each customer and is determined prior to installation.

Client software must be separately installed on each client computer, or through central software distribution.

We need access to all server resources affected by the installation, as well as the internal staff for assistance.

Configuration

When the installation is completed, and works as intended, the system has to be configured. The most important part of this work refers to users, user groups and licenses types, as well as allocation of licenses. Other parts include the configuration of metadata fields, object types, function options and reports. Since each new version of our Trix products contains additions and changes, at least some form of review and presentation of these new features must be carried out annually.

When the installation is completed, and works as intended, the system has to be configured. The most important part of this work refers to users, user groups, licenses types and allocation of licenses. The next step involves determining the information structures, which must be explored in advance.

This step requires a preliminary study to clarify the desired options and is usually carried out through the system design.

System design

The details of the system solution are determined during the system design process, based on specified conditions, from which the system structure is determined. Usually this work is based on a completed feasibility study or equivalent current project. The purpose of the system design is to configure the system to support the business processes that are presented and discussed during the feasibility study. This applies to the needs of the different user groups, as well as to document structures and your current IT policy.

It is important that you provide us with all necessary information, since it serves as the basis of our system design. This approach will provide a configuration that is optimized for your business, based on current plans and decisions.

System integration

A new document and information system may need to be technologically integrated with other systems, for example, to exchange information in order to avoid duplication of storage. If this proves to be profitable and feasible to automate, system integration is required.

Our Trix products are prepared for modern system integration based on REST (REpresentational State Transfer). These programmable interfaces are standard in the industry and support a robust and reliable connection to other systems.

A completed feasibility study should have identified the need and the actual system integration is initiated with a detailed study of the technical conditions. A feasibility study always requires active participation from all concerned parties.

System operation

We can take care of operations for Trix products as part of a cloud service. In this case, the server services are provided by our partner, where the customer determines the location of the servers. The advantage of such an arrangement is that all parties handle their portion of the responsibility through direct contact with the customer, similar to an extended IT department.
This service is usually based on one agreement for system operation, one for the server service and a third for the Trix service, where all necessary support is included.

We offer this service as needed in connection with delivery of our Trix products.
